Hello everyone! I am Jahny Evans most often known as Coach Jay. I was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and have called the DC Metro area home for 17 years. An interesting fact about me is that I picked up a basketball to hoop seriously at 11 years old. Since then, I have found a love for the sport that has developed and deepened for over 12 years. 

I have hooped competitively myself playing in Middle School, High School, and then in intramurals and practice teams during my college years. I still love getting on the court and training to become the best player I can be.

About 10 years ago I began working with younger kids at summer camps first as a volunteer and then as a fully certified preschool teacher. During this time, I began coaching basketball and it is a passion I have developed with intention and consistency over the past 5 years. 

I have experience coaching young athletes from the tots and kinder years up through Middle and High School competitive and championship leagues. Through working with well-respected local organizations like the YMCA, Players Progression Academy (PPA), and Potomac Valley Thunder (PVT), I have had the opportunity to coach hundreds of student-athletes and am now well-known to dozens of local leagues and their participating families. 

In my approach as a private trainer and coach for your student-athlete, I move beyond the regular drills and sets to get to know my players and help them unlock their unique potential and on-the-court swagger. I believe there is a champion in everyone and my goal is to spot that talent and work in partnership with them to draw it out and help it excel in any competitive setting of their choice. I invest fully in my students and give them the sum total of my experience.
